A catalogue of type specimens of marine macroalgae held in the Herbarium of the Museo Oceanológico Hermano Benigno Román at the Estación de Investigaciones Marinas de Margarita, Fundación La Salle de Ciencias Naturales is provided. The collection includes 21 specimens designated as types in differents categories (holotype, isotype, paratype and topotype) which represent the nomenclatural reference of 16 taxa. The category of each type, a synthesis of the information held in the specific labels and selected figures are indicated.
