Abstract

ARDITO, Sonia and GARCIA, Mayra. Phycological study at the Puerto Francés and San Francisquito localities, Miranda State, Venezuela. Acta Bot. Venez., June 2009, vol.32, no.1, p.113-143. ISSN 0084-5906.

A phycological study was conducted at Puerto Francés and San Francisquito localities, of the Miranda State, Venezuela. In this study 70 species were recorded, 41 Rhodophyta, 20 Chlorophyta, 9 Ochrophyta, of which 24 species represent new records for the state and one for the Venezuelan coast. A checklist of species is given and only the new records are described. Puerto Francés presents a higher species richness than San Francisquito, which might be due to the proper environmental conditions associated with each one of the localities.

Keywords: Checklist; Miranda; rocky littoral; seaweeds; Venezuela.
