The Revista de la Sociedad Venezolana de Microbiología (RSVM) is the official journal of the Sociedad Venezolana de Microbiología (SVM) and acts as a communication and interchange link between Venezuelan,  Latin American, Caribbean and World Wide microbiologists. It is a semi annual publication destined to the wide diffusion of studies done in the various areas of Microbiology and its applications. The SVM reserves all property rights over the papers accepted and published in the RSVM.

The RSVM publishes: Original research papers, reviews, essays on current subjects, research advances, clinical case reports, letters and comments to the editor, biographical notes, microbiological education, critical revision of books, and notes on scientific events.

General publication conditions.

Manuscripts submitted to the RSVM should be sent electronically to the Director of the Journal (vrodriguezlemoine@gmail.com) or to the editors (finamaria@cantv.net or murrest@gmail.com). They should include a letter signed by all the authors that states that all editorial rights are ceded to the SVM.

All materials received will be revised by the Editorial Committee and then submitted to the critical revision of at least two specialists specially selected for each case. Authors are invited to propose other investigators that could be considered as arbiters for the evaluation of their work and who will be included in the arbiter bank of the RSVM. Manuscripts that do not fulfill the purposes and quality standards of the RSVM may be returned to their authors before submitting them to arbitration. The opinions of the arbiters, as well as the authorship of the papers, will be strictly confidential. The authors will receive, both in the case of modifications as in the case of rejection, the opinions of the arbiters consulted. The Journal will give a prudential period to authors for answering the opinions of the arbiters or for making the modifications suggested. If these take a longer time than stipulated, the paper will be rejected or considered as new. The RSVM does not charge authors for the publication costs of their work.
